My new photographic work is an autobiographical reference to the family. My goal is to give a modern aspect of the psychological inner synthesis of the Greek family, namely the side that is invisible to the eye, redefined by the daily adversities of the financial crisis. Young people, unable to afford and deal with the tremendous financial demands any more, return to the “paternal hearth”. I have been observing the paternal family, recording personal moments shared between the members. I think that in this way the family goes “nude” and untold human weaknesses are exposed. This “nakedness” demands honesty and self-judgement, necessary elements during these critical times of the vulnerable Greek social reality. I invite and challenge the viewer to now consider under these terms his own family.
